What Materials Are Shade Sails Typically Made From?

There are many different types of fabric used to make a shade sail. Each one is designed to meet specific requirements for performance, appearance and cost.

The most commonly used material for a shade sail is high-density polyethylene (HDPE). These fabrics are water-resistant, but they do not offer 100% waterproof protection against rain and snow.

Aside from HDPE, PVC is another common choice for a shade sail. It is also slightly less breathable than HDPE, but it offers good rain and snow protection.
